Commonwealth Games
Reckitt Pro Solutions is proud to have been the Official Hygiene Partner of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. The iconic event celebrated sporting excellence – with athletes and spectators from the Commonwealth and around the world arriving for 11 days of exhilarating sport across 15 competition venues.
In its role as Official Hygiene Partner, Reckitt Pro Solutions deployed 15 scientists who dedicated over 1,000 hours of technical support to develop and deliver the bespoke hygiene protocols – which aimed to drive better hygiene behaviours and boost confidence for the more-than a million people who came as visitors to the Games. Hand hygiene is regarded as one of the most important hygiene measures adopted by people post-pandemic 1; studies show that handwashing with water alone reduces the presence of bacteria to 23%, whilst handwashing with plain soap and water reduces the presence of bacteria to 8% 2. As the leading hygiene brand in the UK 3, it was important that Dettol’s stringent hygiene standards were met through the delivery of Reckitt Pro Solutions’ hygiene protocol at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. The team worked closely with the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) to create a bespoke programme which would help to bring peace of mind to one of the most significant sporting events in the world.
